Gastronomic tour Barcelona
We invite you to discover in our private tapas tour, the most authentic and traditional bars in Barcelona hand in hand with our guide. In a tour of approximately 2.5/3 hours. We will always begin with a visit to the neighborhood market, where locals do their grocery, and we can observe the best seasonal products. We will show you the best places off the beaten tourist track and away from the most popular guides, so you can enjoy the most genuine neighborhood bars. There, you will taste the best tapas, of course, accompanied by a vermouth, a well-poured beer, or whatever you fancy.
You will want to repeat and do it again since we offer tours in different neighborhoods of the city, and we will personalize the route according to your preferences. Our tour includes food and drinks, and unlike other tours, with Epicure Society, you will savor the best tapas and pintxos from each establishment.

Origin of tapas
The history of tapas has deep roots in Spanish culture and dates back centuries. The term “tapa” is derived from the Spanish verb “tapar,” which means to cover or to top something. The most well-known legend tells that in the 13th century, King Alfonso X of Castile was recovering from an illness and, as part of his recuperation, needed to consume small portions of food with wine. Once, when the wind blew sand into his wine glass, a tavern keeper quickly covered the drink with a slice of ham to prevent contamination. The king appreciated the combination of flavors, and from that point on, the custom of serving a tapa alongside the beverage became popular.

Diego is passionate about gastronomy and the culture of bars and tapas in Spain. With over 17 years of experience working in fine dining restaurants and 5-star hotels worldwide and after living in gastronomically vibrant cities like San Sebastian, Madrid, or London.
He settled in Barcelona in 2016. From there, he continues to travel every month throughout Spain and Europe to stay updated on the latest culinary trends. In the city, he really likes finding those genuine local spots where he can enjoy homemade tastes, chat with the bartender about life, and feel right at home.

Unlike other tours, at Epicure Society, we prioritize quality over quantity. That’s why we will never visit more than three bars, as we will choose those in each neighborhood that offer superior quality or added value worth showcasing. We’ll take our time to visit and savor the best tapas, pintxos, and dishes at each establishment.
Our tours are completely private, personalized, and exclusive for those who book them, as long as they are tours for a minimum of two people. If you wish to do it individually, please contact experiences@epicure-society.com, and we will send you a proposal.
Our tours are private and personalized, but the adaptation of tapas and portions to different preferences or food allergies depends not only on us but also on the establishments we visit. When making your reservation, please let us know about any dietary restrictions you have so that we can plan accordingly and select places that best accommodate these types of diets.
If you are unable to attend your tour reservation and you inform us with at least 72 hours’ notice, we will refund 80% of the amount. If you notify us with less than 72 hours’ notice, we will refund 50% of the amount, or we will do our best to try to find another date for the tapas tour.
Our tour includes the tasting of at least 9 different preparations, generally 3 in each bar we visit, although the distribution may vary if the customer requests it. In each bar, you will have the option to order at least one alcoholic drink (it will be two if we haven’t finished the tapas after the first one) to choose from house wine, beer, vermouth, or another non-alcoholic beverage. We don’t want people to leave our tours feeling hungry or thirsty, so we are pretty generous with our customers’ consumptions.
Yes, people of all ages can attend the activity. In the case of minors, they must be accompanied by a guardian, and alcoholic beverages will not be served to them. Children under 9 years old will not be charged, although the drinks they have must be paid for separately.
