Tour highlights

  • Visit to a ceramics workshop where you will discover the entire artisanal process, from clay to the final object.
  • Live glassblowing demonstration with exclusive access to the furnace in operation.
  • Tour of a textile studio where natural fibers are woven on manual looms.
  • Direct interaction with artisans to learn about their techniques, tools, and materials.
  • Tour through quiet and authentic neighborhoods of Barcelona, away from the usual tourist routes.

Discover the soul of the city through those who still create with their hands. Three workshops, three crafts, an experience you won't find in any guidebook.

1. Ceramics Workshop: Traditional Techniques and Manual Production

In this workshop, utilitarian and decorative ceramic pieces are made using traditional techniques such as coiling and the wheel.

They primarily produce bowls and everyday objects, as well as larger pieces for more conceptual projects.

The entire process is done by hand, from preparing the clay to firing, with special attention to surface textures. The focus is on formal simplicity, functionality, and respect for materials.

During the visit, each phase of production is explained, and finished pieces are displayed, combining ancient techniques with a contemporary aesthetic influenced by Japanese ceramics.

2. Glassblowing Demonstration: Technique, Color, and Experimentation

This workshop visit allows you to closely observe the glassblowing process, from preparing the material to creating final forms.

Both functional objects and artistic design pieces are made, with special attention to transparency, color gradients, and optical effects.

During the demonstration, you’ll learn how to control the temperature and fluidity of the glass to shape it, and how pigments and advanced color techniques learned in Central European workshops are incorporated.

Examples of experimental projects made with recycled materials such as mussel shells or wood-fired kiln ashes are also presented.

The space also functions as a testing lab, where prototypes are developed and the creative potential of glass is explored beyond its conventional uses.

3. Textile Studio: Natural Fibers and Traditional Techniques

This studio works with handwoven textiles made from plant fibers collected in the Canary Islands and transformed into wall pieces in Barcelona.

During the visit, the entire process is shown, from treating the dried plants to integrating them into low-warp looms.

Traditional techniques learned in countries such as India, Nepal, and Pakistan are explained, including methods like kilim, dhurries, and Tibetan knots.

The approach combines ancestral textile knowledge with a contemporary design vision focused on respect for materials, circularity, and connection with the environment.

Collaborative projects with other studios and local brands are also discussed, as well as the importance of cultural exchanges in the evolution of the craft.

The final pieces are characterized by their organic appearance, irregular textures, and strong connection to the origin of the materials.

The other side of tourism in Barcelona

Barcelona is one of the most visited destinations in Europe, with millions of people every year visiting the same spots in the historic center.

This concentrated tourism model has had a strong impact on the city: rising rents, loss of local businesses, disappearance of traditional workshops, and saturation of the most well-known neighborhoods.

As visitor numbers rise, the space for authenticity shrinks. This tour was born as a response to that reality.

Instead of following crowded routes, it delves into peaceful neighborhoods where artisan workshops still survive, working with manual techniques, natural materials, and small-scale production.Supporting these initiatives is also a way to preserve the cultural and economic diversity of the city.

Meeting those who still work with their hands is a way to see Barcelona from within, without filters or showcases.

What our customers say

Telmo
