Before making a splash, we’ll shift gears as the catamaran turns into a floating sushi haven. Tuck into the freshest tuna sashimi with the Mediterranean as your dining room. It’s a taste of the sea like never before.
After this mind-blowing experience, we’re topping it off with a treat for your taste buds. We’ll head to a local restaurant right here in town to dive into a thematic menu, starring the savory and unique star of the day, among other delicious offerings.
But guess what? We’ve got a bonus track lined up for you. After our culinary escapade, we’re making our way to the port of Ametlla de Mar for an exclusive encore—the fish auction. It’s the final act, a behind-the-scenes peek at the hustle and bustle as the day’s freshest catches go up for grabs.

Almadraba, derived from the Arabic word “matrabah,” traces its roots back to the Phoenician era. This traditional and sustainable form of tuna fishing has been meticulously preserved, passed down through generations along the shores of the cadiz coastlines, strategically positioned in the Strait of Gibraltar.
At the heart of Almadraba lies an intricate network of fixed nets and underwater chambers strategically positioned along the migratory routes of Bluefin tuna. These vast underwater labyrinths, meticulously constructed with eco-friendly materials, create a labyrinthine path that directs the tuna towards a central holding chamber.
The captured tuna from Almadraba are celebrated for their exceptional quality and flavor. Recognized as some of the finest tuna in the world, they become the star of culinary masterpieces. From the renowned ventresca to delicate sashimi, chefs worldwide prize Almadraba tuna for its rich taste and buttery texture.

The distance from Barcelona to Ametlla de Mar is approximately 150 kilometers (about 93 miles). The travel time can vary depending on the mode of transportation and traffic conditions. By car, it typically takes around 1.5 to 2 hours to reach Ametlla de Mar from Barcelona.
Despite our tours being entirely private, in the case of the “Swim with Tuna” experience, the boat and the time spent swimming with the tuna will be shared with other people. However, meals, transportation, and the visit to the fish market are entirely private. If you wish to do it individually, please contact experiences@epicure-society.com, and we will send you a proposal.
Our tours are private and personalized, but the adaptation of tapas and portions to different preferences or food allergies depends not only on us but also on the establishments we visit. When making your reservation, please let us know about any dietary restrictions you have so that we can plan accordingly and select places that best accommodate these types of diets.
If you are unable to attend your tour reservation and you inform us with at least 72 hours’ notice, we will refund 80% of the amount. If you notify us with less than 72 hours’ notice, we will refund 50% of the amount, or we will do our best to try to find another date for the tapas tour.
The tour includes private transportation to and from Barcelona, brand new snorkeling equipment, boat access, sashimi tasting, a menu at the restaurant with regular drinks (include a bottle of wine), and a visit to the auction. Please note that this tour does not include a guide, but the driver will drop you off at the designated locations.
Yes, people of all ages can attend the activity. In the case of minors, they must be accompanied by a guardian, and alcoholic beverages will not be served to them. Children under 9 years old will not be charged, although the drinks they have must be paid for separately.
Although we’ll be wearing a lifeguard jacket, it is highly recommended to be comfortable with swimming. However, it is not mandatory to get into the water; you can simply watch the tuna views from the boat.
